Haircare question [Wednesday November 11th, 2009 1:07am] madradhair [tiny_ten] So here's a question for all you madraders out there. I was wondering if a placenta shampoo and conditioner (like La bella that is sold at walmart) would be good for my hair. I've heard some good and some bad reviews about it so I thought I'd ask you guys to help me out. Currently, my hair is pretty dry at the ends but can gety kinda oily at my bangs. Its a little damaged and breaks easy from going a little crazy with the hair dye for a couple years. I really want to repair it. So would this be a good thing for me to try? I don't think I would ever cut my hair super short like a pixie, but I'm willing to consider anything. My hair is naturally curly/wavy, but it doesn't stay nice, it gets all poofy and frizzy. I am okay with that for now but I was wanting some insight on what I should try next. Or even Abby, my real name, ehehh. So many yummy choices. Some people even call me Bibblez, Bibigail, Beeizzle, or Bibz. But only occasionally, not constantly. As for my surname, that’s classified- babeyy. ;p Hm, since this is sorta an introductory post, I guess I’ll write up a few things about meh: x  I’m 16 yrs. old (a junior in high school) and I was born August 31 meaning my zodiac sign is Virgo. Also, I’m Mexxican (Do you like tacos? XD) ...still, I can barely speak Spanish. [Virgo is an earth sign and its ruling planet is Mercury. Sounds good to me- what’s your zodiac sign??] x  Some of my favorites: color/red; animal/fox; festivity/halloween; season/winter; weather/rain; word/zombie; food/anything pasta (i.e., macaroni cheese or fettuccine Alfredo) x  Escape the Fate is my all time favorite band! Or at least, for the moment. (Here are a few of the bands I like, maybe you like some of these? A7X, BFMV, SKSK, Trivium, Iron Maiden...)  [As you can see, I’m more of a Post-Hardcore, Alternative, and Heavy Metal kind of girl. Still, I do enjoy stuff like NeverShoutNever!, Jeffree Star, and Shiny Toy Guns.] x  One of my hobbies would be messing around with Photoshop to create icons, banners, and other graphics. I made all my own icons, too. =D [I also use PS to make CG drawings- some of which will be posted on my deviantART account.] x  Writing is another one of my hobbies. I like to write poetry, stories, fanfiction, etc. I don’t often show them to others cause criticism terrifies me... I might put some stuff up from time to time, though- I usually chicken out before submitting... [I have many ideas for titles+ and if you need any help with your own writing or want me to revise, you know who to find *wink*, even if it’s something for school cause there’s never anyone around when I need help with my writing] x  I’m literate and have a brain which I am keenly aware of, although I’m somewhat ridiculous and have a crude humour [Also, if I misspell anything, then it may have been done on purpose or by accident. Sometimes it just depends on the situation (i.e., while texting or IMing)] x  I’m straight edge and admire the concept of Hugs Not Drugs (I admire anyone who is devoted to something, really- like veganism, conservationists, or “Free Hugs” & “Be Green”- stuff like that) x  I believe that guys + skinny jeans + long hair= love [lol, sounds like Ronnie Radke... And the two guys I have a crush on at school] x  I love anime/manga, cartoons, and video games. Although, since I turned sixteen, I dedicate only 10% or less of my free time drawing, meaning I don’t draw as often as I did last year and before that. [I used to read a lot of manga, but I haven’t been keeping up with any series... Instead, I’ve picked up a few novels that have caught my eye this Fall- still, I’m hoping to get back into manga.] x  Because of how I dress, the way I behave, and music I listen to, I’m often called emo... I’m not. I’m neither “scene” or even “emo scene” ... We’re all people, not different species. Keep the labels for the soup cans (my friend says this often). I just wear what I like and don’t follow any set of guidelines. x  I have many problems. A lot of them, I’ve managed to let go. Some return to haunt me now and then (such as my struggle with depression & insomnia), so advice really helps as I may ask for it sometimes. My friends have trouble from time to time and maybe giving me advice on what I can do to help would be cool, too. x  My journal will more than likely include a lot of what’s been previously mentioned. Stuff about what I’m feeling & what’s been going on (life), or even some of my own creations. You can also find me at active communities related to my interests. So, I’m looking for all kinds of friends really (it’s a plus if we have things in common, too). I’ll definitely add back anyone who adds me & I love to leave comments and read anybody’s journal. Well, that’s all I can think of to say at the moment. I’ll be happy to meet ANY new people. [Tuesday November 10th, 2009 1:24pm] madradhair [lithiumflavored]  Does anybody have any advice for growing out a pixie cut? It's honestly the worst mistake of my life.... I'm sure it would have been more enjoyable, but I used color oops once on it and my hair fell out in chunks...resulting in an incredibly unhealthy, uneven pixie cut that I'm even embarassed to get a professional cut because I know they'd criticize me.  I'm taking biotin, 15 mg, but I can only tell a difference in my nails. I've been growing my hair out from the pixie for about 2 months, and it seems all I have is a mullet-y looking back and still really short, fried top... beep beep

Bleach inquiry [Tuesday November 10th, 2009 12:49pm] madradhair [pygopagus] [ music | Pentaphobe ] To start, a few important things: my hair has never been cut short, aside from the bangs, which have been growing out for the past couple of years and are fairly non-present (I actually really dig the layered look they add). I've been blonde my entire life, either naturally, or (after college started) with the assistance of some fairly mild highlighters. How much I like the way I look pretty directly correlates with how light my hair color is. All of the highlighting I did at home with friends without any trouble, I didn't stick to any particular brand, either, I was hap-hazard with good results. Starting around age 7, I've wanted white/silver hair. Two months ago I went to a salon for the first time and went for it. My hair filled two sinks, two hairdressers did an intense and amazing job bumping my entire head up to a very pale platinum, and then toning it silver. I've since gone in to have my roots fixed (at the same place) once. I tone it myself. I want to fix the roots at home for a number of reasons: I'm a circus performer and will be doing some traveling/touring, so it helps to be able to maintain my looks on the go. BUT, I don't know much at all about using 40vol/hardcore bleach. My roots are virgin, my hair is naturally a dark ash blonde. If anyone here has made their own (or their friends') hair WHITE/SILVER at home, I would reeaalllyy appreciate any advice and/or instructions about the bleaching process. WHEW, that was long.
